Study on the correlation between benefit finding and symptom burden in cervical cancer patients

    • Objective: To explore the correlation between benefit finding and symptom burden in patients with cervical cancer. Methods: Using convenient sampling method, 129 postoperative patients with cervical cancer were selected as the research subjects.General information questionnaire, benefit finding scale, and Anderson symptom assessment scale were used for assessment.Univariate and multiple linear regression analysis were conducted to screen the influencing factors of benefit finding and symptom burden in cervical cancer patients, and Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the correlation between benefit finding and symptom burden. Results: The benefit finding score of cervical cancer patients was (60.90±7.31) points, and the symptom burden score was (70.90±8.63) points.Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that age, educational level, and complications were influencing factors for benefit finding in cervical cancer patients (P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).Family economic status, payment method, and tumor stage were influencing factors for symptom burden in cervical cancer patients (P < 0.01).There was a negative correlation between benefit finding and symptom burden in cervical cancer patients (r=-0.441 to -0.840, P < 0.01).Conclusions: The benefit finding and symptom burden of cervical cancer patients are related. In clinical practice, healthcare professionals should pay attention to symptom management and reduce symptom burden in cervical cancer patients to improve patients' benefit finding.
