Study on the current situation of social alienation among patients with colorectal cancer and its influencing factors

    • Objective To understand the current situation of social alienation in patients with colorectal cancer, explore the correlations among social alienation, disease perception, and family resilience, and analyze the related influencing factors of social alienation in patients with colorectal cancer.
Methods A total of 114 postoperative patients with colorectal cancer admitted to a tertiary hospital in Anhui Province were randomly selected as the research subjects. The social alienation of patients was evaluated using the social alienation scale for colorectal cancer survivors, and the relevant data of patients were collected to analyze the influencing factors of social alienation in colorectal cancer patients.
Results The total score of social alienation in patients with colorectal cancer was (54.63±3.43) points, among which the score of social alienation was (17.39±2.18) points, and the score of emotional alienation was (37.24±3.06) points.Social alienation in patients with colorectal cancer was significantly positively correlated with the disease cognition and emotion(P < 0.01), and negatively correlated with the family resilience, family intimacy, family commitment and friendship(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).The results of multivariate linear regression analysis showed that the stoma, self-care ability, emotion, family resilience, family commitment and family intimacy were the influencing factors of the social alienation level in colorecial cancer patients(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01), explaining a total of 61.1% of the variation(F=12.107, P < 0.01).
Conclusions Social alienation in patients with colorectal cancer is at a relatively high level, which requires clinical attention. The ostomy, low self-care ability, low family resilience, high emotional dimension in disease perception and poor family commitment and family intimacy in social relationships are the risk factors of social alienation.
