Loop electrosurgical excisional procedure for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia in 54 cases

Objective: To investigate the efficacy and capability of loop electrosurgical excisional procedure(LEEP) in treatment of cervical introepithelial neoplasia(CIN).Methods: Fifty-four patients with CIN were treated by LEEP under local anesthesia and colposcopic guidance.The operation time,hemorrhage volume,the change of histopathology and complications were analyzed retrospectively.Results: For the LEEP,the mean operation time was 4.5 min,mean hemorrhage volume was 8.6 ml.After LEEP,66.67% was consistent with the changes of histopathology,20.37% with upgrade,and 12.96% with downgrade.The cure rate was achieved up to 94.4%.Conclusions: LEEP is a kind of safe,effective and economical method for the management of CIN.So it is worthwhile to popularize LEEP in gynecological field.
