Abstract
Objective: To investigate the role of Shenfu Zhusheye in preventing the side effects of interferon-alpha on the white blood cell, red blood cell and blood platelet in chronic hepatitis B patients. Methods: A total of 68 chronic hepatitis B patients with interferon-alpha-related myelosuppression were randomly divided into study group and control group. The control group (34 cases) received combination therapy of leucogen and batilol tablets. The study group (34 cases) received Shenfu Zhusheye intravenous injection. The white blood cell count, neutrophil count and the blood platelet count were measured weekly in both groups. Results: The levels of the plasma blood cell count and neutrophil count in the study group were significantly lower than those in control group (P>0.05).The scores of debility and agrypnia in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.01).Conclusions: Shenfu Zhusheye therapy is effective in preventing interferon-alpha-related myelosuppression in chronic hepatitis B patients.
