Experience of nursing care for postoperative patients with esophageal cancer for duodenal nutrition tube

Objective: To summary the clinical experience of nursing care for duodenal nutrition tube application after the radical resection for esophageal cancer. Methods: Fifty-four esophageal cancer patients were observed which were early given intestines nutrition support therapeutical by duodenum nutrition tube after operation. Results: Among the 54 esophageal cancer patients with duodenum nutrition tube,eight patients felt throat pain and discomfort,duodenum nutrition tube was jammed in one case,abdomen expansion was occurred in four cases,diarrhea was occurred in one case,no other significant complications were occurred; malnutrition had been improved. Conclusions: Application of duodenal nutrition tube is safe and reliable,easy to implement,it will decrease the postoperative complication and the quality of life can be improved dramatically.
