Therapeutic effect of duct dilatation and perfusion of iodized oils for recurrent swelling of parotid gland of childhood:Report of 34 cases

Objective: To investigate the curative effect of 40% iodized oils for recurrent swelling of parotid gland of childhood.Methods: Thirty-four children with recurrent swelling of parotid gland were treated with expansive perfusion 40% iodized oils.Pre-treatment evaluation and assessment of the treatment effect were performed with clinical and imaging methods.If necessary, the treatment repeated after 2 and 4 weeks.Results: All patients were followed up for 6 months to 1 year and the therapeutic effects were evaluated.In this group 21 patients were cured, 9 turned better and 4 did not change.Conclusions: This method can treat children with recurrent swelling of parotid gland thoroughly without destructiveness.It is the first choice of treatment.
