Abstract
Objective: To observe the early changes of C-reactive protein(CRP) in neonatal septicemia and its value in the early diagnosis of neonatal septicemia. Methods: Twenty-six cases of neonatal septicemia and 19 non-infected cases were divided into the septicemia group and control group, respectively. The level of CRP detected by immunoturbidimetry and white blood cell counts between two groups were analyzed, the sensitivity, specificity and Youden index of CRP in the early diagnosis of neonatal septicemia were observed. Results: The positive rate of CRP in septicemia group(88.46%) was significantly higher than that in control group(5.26%)(P<0.01),and the CRP level of the septicemia group was also high(P<0.01).The positive rate of CRP was significantly higher than that of white blood cell in septicemia group(P<0.01).Conclusions: CRP can provide the basis in the early diagnosis of neonatal septicemia.
