Observation of the effect of posterior microendoscropic discectomy in treatment of lumbar disc herniation complicated with lumbar spinal stenosis: report of 32 cases

Abstract
Objective: To observe the clinic effect of microendoscropic discectomy(MED) operation on lumbar disc herniation(LDH) complicated with lumbar spinal stenosis.Methods: Thirty-two cases of lumbar disc herniation complicated with lumbar spinal stenosis or lateral recess stenosis underwent posterior microendoscopic discectomy,and the clinical effects were reviewed and analyzed.Results: The follow-up continued from 4 months to 38 months.The evaluation with Nakai scale revealed excellent in 25 cases,good in 4 cases,fair in 2 cases and poor in 1 case.The rate of good results was 90.6%(29/32).According to the clinical effect scale,the results by spinal micro-endoscopy therapy were excellent in 25 cases,good in 3 cases,fair in 3 cases and poor in 1 case,with an effective rate of 87.5%(28/32).Conclusions: Posterior microendoscropic discectomy shows minimal invasion,quick recovery and good clinic effect,it is safe and effective in treatment of lumbar disc herniation complicated with lumbar spinal stenosis.
