Efficacy of oxiracetam combined with nimodipine for treatment of vascular dementia

Objective:To investigate the curative effect of oxiracetam combined with nimodipine in the treatment of vascular dementia(VD).Methods:Forty-four VD patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group,with 22 cases in each.The control group were administered nimodipine 40mg,3 times per day for 3 weeds in addition to the basic therapy;the observation group were given nimodipine(the same dosage and usage with the control group) combined with oxiracetam 4.0g and 250ml 0.9% sodium chloride injection intravenous drip one time a day for 3 weeks.The total effective rate and adverse reaction of the two groups were observed and compared.Results:The total effective rate was 95.45% in the observation group,which was higher than that 81.82% in the control group(P0.05).The adverse reaction rates in the observation group and control group were 13.64% and 9.09%,respectively.The incidence of adverse reaction had no statistical difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusions:Oxiracetam combined with nimodipine is obviously effective and safe in the treatment of VD.It is of value for clinical application.
