Abstract
Objective:To study the self-worth(SW) status of nursing students in higher vocational schools. Methods:One thousand eight hundred and eighteen students were surveyed by stratified cluster sampling, using Self-worth Scale for Adolescents. Results:The nursing students from higher vocational schools have recorded higher scores than the national norms in terms of total, regular and special dimensions of SW(P<0.01);the personal-oriented interpersonal SW amid second-year students and the society-oriented moral SW amid interns are significantly lower than the national norms(P<0.01);the interns' interpersonal SW does not vary statistically(P>0.05).The abnormal rate of interpersonal dimension of the interns is higher than that of the first-year and second-year students, while the difference is not significant between the first-year and second-year students(P>0.05).Conclusions:The nursing students from higher vocational schools have recorded higher scores than the national norms in most SW;with the involvement of professional factors, some profession-associated dimensions present abnormal, which may be related to the professional demand for the nursing students.
