Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of E-cadherin as well (E-cad) as its correlation with the invasion and metastasis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).Methods:The expression of E-cad in 76 cases of ESCC and 30 cases of normal esophageal squamous epithelia was detected by SP method of immunohistochemical staining, and its clinicopathological features were analyzed. Results:The abnormal expression rate of E-cad in ESCC and normal esophageal squamous epithelia was 59.21% and 6.67%,respectively (P<0.01).The abnormal expression of E-cad was related to the depth of invasion, the degree of cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05-P<0.01).Conclusions:The expression of E-cad in ESCC is abnormal. And the abnormal expression rate is related to the depth of invasion, the degree of cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis.
