The clinical significance of T lymphocyte subsets and mIPS scores in infection patients with malignant hematologic diseases

Objective To explore the clinical significance of T lymphocyte subsets and modified infection probability score (mIPS) in infection patients with malignant hematologic disease.

Methods A total of 38 adult malignant hematologic disease patients treated with chemotherapy were divided into the infection group (21 cases) and non-infectionb group (17 cases) according to their infection outcomes. The mIPS score, T lymphocyte subsets, blood routine and biochemical index levels were compared between two groups.

Results The mIPS score, SOFA score and C-reactive protein level in the infection group were significantly higher than those in non-infection group (P ＜ 0.01). The levels of CD3⁺, CD4⁺, CD8⁺ and neutrophils in the infection group were lower than those in non-infection group (P ＜ 0.05 ~ P ＜ 0.01).

Conclusions Early detection of T lymphocyte subsets and mIPS score can play a role in suggesting and predicting the occurrence of infection in patients with malignant hematologic diseases
