Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of superficial iliac circumflex artery island flaps in repairing soft tissue defects in hand. Methods: Superficial iliac circumflex artery island flaps was used to repair nine cases of wound hands. The split-thickness skin grafting was applied to recover the donor sites of the defects in 2 cases and the other donor sites were sutured directly. The flaps at the distance of one third were thinned in 2 cases. Results: The pedicles were severed for 14 to 30 days. All the 9 cases were repaired at one stage. The flaps were all survived and achieved satisfactory results in 3 months to 1 year's follow-up,excepting that the sense of pain, temperature and touch were a little dull. Conclusions: The procedure of repairing soft tissue defecs in hand with superficial iliac circumflex artery island flap is easy and practical, with the adavantages of stable blood vessels, high survival rate and few complications. This method is worth popularizing.
