Relativity study on type 2 diabetes,C-reactive protein and fasting plasma proinsulin

Objective: To study the relationship between C-reactive protein(CRP),fasting plasma proinsulin(FPI)with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T₂DM)and diabetic hypertension,and to explore the mechanism of CRP involvement in T₂DM.Methods: Seventy cases of T₂DM were divided into T₂DM group(n=30)and diabetic hypertension group(n=40);35 age-matched healthy people acted as normal controls.CRP,fibrinogen,FPI,fasting blood glucose,total cholesterol,triglyceride and high density lipoprotein cholesterol in their sera were assayed and comparison was made between each group.Relativity analysis of CRP and fasting plasma proinsulin and other indexes were conducted.Results: The level of CRP in T₂DM group was significantly higher than that in the normal control(P<0.01).The level of CRP was the highest in the diabetic hypertension group(P<0.01).Relativity analysis showed that CRP was positively correlated with fasting plasma proinsulin in T₂DM(P<0.05).Conclusions: CRP is involved in the pathogenesis and development of T₂DM and diabetic hypertension.
