Relativity study on type 2 diabetes,C-reactive protein and fasting plasma proinsulin

    • Objective: To study the relationship between C-reactive protein(CRP),fasting plasma proinsulin(FPI)with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and diabetic hypertension, and to explore the mechanism of CRP involvement in T2DM.Methods: Seventy cases of T2DM were divided into T2DM group(n=30)and diabetic hypertension group(n=40);35 age-matched healthy people acted as normal controls.CRP,fibrinogen,FPI,fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride and high density lipoprotein cholesterol in their sera were assayed and comparison was made between each group.Relativity analysis of CRP and fasting plasma proinsulin and other indexes were conducted. Results: The level of CRP in T2DM group was significantly higher than that in the normal control(P<0.01).The level of CRP was the highest in the diabetic hypertension group(P<0.01).Relativity analysis showed that CRP was positively correlated with fasting plasma proinsulin in T2DM(P<0.05).Conclusions: CRP is involved in the pathogenesis and development of T2DM and diabetic hypertension.
