    Study on the safety and efficacy of gelatin sponge particle blocking coaxial needle tract technique in ultrasound-guided percutaneous liver space-occupying biopsy

    • Objective To explore the safety and efficacy of gelatin sponge particle blocking coaxial needle tract technique in ultrasound-guided percutaneous biopsy of liver space-occupying lesions.
      Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 100 patients who underwent ultrasound-guided puncture biopsy of liver space-occupying lesions. After biopsy, the coaxial needle tract was blocked with gelatin sponge particles for hemostasis. The puncture time, number of needle adjustments, puncture depth and related complications, such as bleeding, local pain, allergic reactions, infections and pulmonary embolism were recorded.
      Results After the puncture tracts of 100 patients were blocked with gelatin sponge particles, there was no obvious bleeding in all of them, and the success rate of blocking was 100%. The average puncture time was (8.2 ± 2.7) minutes, the average number of needle adjustments was (1.0 ± 0.7) times, and the average puncture depth was (4.3 ± 1.0) cm. After the puncture biopsy was completed, none of the patients had allergic reactions, infections or pulmonary embolism. Only 6 cases had mild local pain.
      Conclusions The technique of blocking coaxial needle channels with gelatin sponge particles has a good hemostatic effect, and it is simple and easy to operate with high safety.
