Abstract
Objective: To explore the diagnosis and treatment of torsion of testicular appendage so as to improve the level of treatment. Methods: The clinical data, including the onset, treatment and prognosis of 16 cases of torsion of testicular appendage were reviewed. The age of the patients ranged from 13-42 years. Results: Eleven cases had left side torsion of testicular appendage and 5 cases the right side. The elapse of time from onset to definite diagnosis was 2 h-8 d.The diagnosis of torsion of testicular appendage in 15 cases was based on color Doppler flow imaging(CDFI) and 1 case was verified by operation. All the 16 cases underwent acute operation.Twelve cases of testicles were removed for necrosis, and only 4 cases of testicles were salvaged by operative detorsion. Conclusions: Early diagnosis of torsion of testicular appendage is very important, and CDFI is reliable for diagnosis of torsion of testicular appendage.Immediately operation after admission is essential for salvage of the testicle.
