Three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy for primary hepatocellular carcinoma: Report of 35 cases

    • Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy(3DCRT) on unresectable primary hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods: Thirty-five patients with advanced liver cancer were treated by 3DCRT using 6 MV X-ray.The patients received a total dosage of 40-62 Gy,2-4 Gy per day. Results: Complete remission was detected in 8.6% of the patients, partial remission in 51.4%,no change in 34.3% and progressive disease in 8.6%,with an overall response rate(CR+PR) of 60.0%.One-year survival rate was 57.1%.Conclusions: Three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy is effective for treatment of patients with unrespectable primary hepatocellular carcinoma.
