Reconstruction of cicatrix contracture on the face and anterior neck

Objective: To evaluate the three methods of reconstructing cicatrix contracture on the face and anterior neck.Methods: Twenty-three patients with a cicatrix area of 6 cm×5 cm to 16 cm×9 cm were treated by skin flap transposition,free skin transplantation and skin soft tissue expansion since 1998.Results: All the cases were successfully repaired and satisfactory results achieved;the outward appearance and function had improved a lot.Conclusions: All the three procedures above have their own merits and shortcomings and can be applied to different cases in clinical practice.
