    Oxaliplatin combined with leucovorin and 5-fluorouracil chemotherapy in treatment of advanced gastric cancer

    • Objective: To explore the effects and side effects of oxaliplatin(L-OHP) combined with leucovorin(LV) and 5-fluorouracil(5-Fu) regimen on patients with advanced gastric cancer.Methods: Thirty-five patients with advanced gastric cancer were administered oxaliplatin 200 mg intravenously at day 1.LV 200 mg/m2 was infused intravenously for 1/2 hour,then 5-Fu 200 mg/m2 bolus was given,followed by 400 mg/m2 intravenous drip.The therapy lasted from day 1-5,and then repeated every 4 weeks.The results were evaluated after 2 cycles.Results: Of the thirty-five patients,complete response was observed in two cases and partial response in 14.The overall response rate achieved 47.1%.The main side effects were nausea,vomiting,myelosuppression and peripheral neurotoxicity.Conclusions: Oxaliplatin combined with LV/5-Fu is highly effective and well tolerable.It is a selective regimen for patients with advanced gastric cancer.
