Invasive mechanical ventilation therapy for 15 patients with severe acute left ventricular failure

Objective: To sum up the clinical experience in treatment of patients with severe acute left ventricular failure(ALVF)using invasive mechanical ventilation.Methods: A retrospective analysis was carried out of the effect of invasive mechanical ventilation applied to 15 patients with severe ALVF in intensive care unit.Results: The 15 patients freed themselves from the ventilator successfully with no complications induced by hypoxia or invasive mechanical ventilation;the cure rate and the survival rate were 100%.Conclusions: Timely application of invasive mechanical ventilation in addition to rutine therapy is essential for the management of patients with severe ALVF.
