Curative effect of small incision combined with micro-titanium plate in treatment of zygomatic complex fracture:a report of 31 cases

Objective: To evaluate the curative effect of small incision combined with micro-titanium plate in treatment of zygomatic complex fracture. Methods: The zygomatic complex fracture was revealed through small incisions in the lateral margin of orbit,inferior margin of eyelid,auriculotemporal part and intraoral vestibular groove. The micro-titanium board was applied to 31 cases of zygomatic arch complex fracture for rigid internal fixation. The effects were evaluated by the facial shape,degree of mouth opening,wound healing and X-ray. Results: Except for 2 cases of mildly restricted mouth opening and 1 case of temporary facial paralysis, the rest cases obtained normal mouth opening and facial symmetry; the incisions healed well and the surgery effect was satisfactory. Conclusions: The procedure of small incision combined with micro-titanium miniplate for rigid internal fixation has the advantages of easy operation,small damage and few complications in treatment of zygomatic complex fracture,which accords with the modern concepts of surgical therapy.
