Metabolic syndrome and its related diseases in the elderly

Objective: To investigate the incidence of metabolic syndrome and the related diseases in the elderly.Methods: The plasma glucose,lipid-profile,blood pressure and body mass index were measured for 532 aged men and women which receiving physical examination in our hospital.Results: The incidences of diabetes,hypertension,dislipidemia,overweight,obesity and metabolic syndrome were 18.98%,45.68%,50.38%,28.76%,7.52% and 13.35%,respectively.Conclusions: There is a high proportion of metabolic syndrome and related diseases in the elderly.
