Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinicopathologic features and differential diagnosis of keratoacanthoma. Methods: Clinical data and histopathological features of twenty-four cases bearing keratoacanthoma were retrospectively analyzed and discussed with review of the literature. Results: Except one case occurred in the hip,and 1 case in the nasal vestibule, all the rest occurred in the sun-exposed areas and were solitary type. Tumors were protruding from the skin surface as hemispherical and the central bolt was full of horny, like volcano,edge-like skin surrounding the lips. Conclusions: Diagnosis of keratoacanthoma depend on the characteristic clinical and pathological features. Differential diagnosis should be addressed in the case of squamous cell carcinoma in skin. Good prognosis could be achieved by completely resection of the local lesion.
