Abstract
Objective: To explore the effects of systematic healthy education on the outcomes of patients with impaired glucose tolerance(IGT).Methods: Eighty-six cases with impaired glucose tolerance selected from the clinic clients in our hospital and some communities were divided into the systematic healthy education group(healthy education group) and non-systematic healthy education group(control group) by one-blind control method. The fasting plasma glucose,2 hours plasma glucose of oral glucose tolerance test and glycosylated hemoglobin in two group were measured at start and in 2 years after following-up.The normal conversion and diabetes conversion rates between two groups and their own were statistically analyzed. Results: The levels of the fasting plasma glucose and 2 hours plasma glucose of oral glucose tolerance test in healthy education group were significantly lower than those in control group in 2 years after following up(P<0.01).In healthy education group, the normal conversion rate of glucose tolerance were significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.01),while the conversion rate of diabetes was lower than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusions: Systematic healthy education can increase the normal conversion rate of glucose tolerance, and reduce the conversion rate of diabetes.
