    Surgical treatment for intermittent exotropia: Report of 106 cases

    • Objective: To study the factors leading to successful operation for intermittent exotropia and postoperative visual function recovery.Methods: The data of 106 cases of intermittent exotropia who had received operation and followed up for six weeks to one year were analysed.Results: The rates of right position were 84.91%(one week after operation),76.42%(six weeks after operation) and 75.47%(one year after operation).Fusional faculty before operation was essential for the recovery of eyesight function.The younger the patients were,the better the recovery would achieve(P<0.005).Conclusions: Patients with intermittent exotropia should resort to surgical treatment as early as possible.
