Nebulization of budesonide and terbutaline for treatment of infants with severe pneumonia

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of budesonide and terbutaline on infants with severe pneumonia.Methods: fifty-four infants with severe pneumonia were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.Both groups received the same comprehensive therapy,and the treatment group was administered nebulization of budesonide and terbutaline in addition.The relieving time of the symptoms and the cure rate of the infants in the two groups were compared after the therapy.Results: The cure rate(93.3%) in the treatment group was significantly higher than that(62.5%) in the control group.The disappearing time of cough,panting,lung rales and duration of the disease in the treatment group were much shorter than those of the control(P<0.01).Conclusions: Inhalation atomized budesonide and terbutaline driven by oxygen may promote the recovery of infants with severe pneumonia and decurtate the pathogenesis.
