Effect of acute cold stress by immersing in water on the release of nitric oxide in cerebral cortex of rats

    • Objective: To elucidate the changes of nitric oxide production in cerebral cortex of rats under acute cold stress by immersing in water. Methods: Twenty-seven male adult rats were randomly divided into three groups.Group A was a control group and rats in which were without any treatment.Rats of group B were put into cold water for 30 minutes and rats of group C were put into cold water for 60 minutes. The level of nitric oxide in cortex of rats were deteated by using NO deteat Kit.Results: The levels of nitric oxide in group A,B,and C were(4.36±1.79) mmol/g pr;(2.79±2.00) mmol/gpr,and(11.50±2.34) mmol/gpr,respectively.Conclusions: Nitric oxide may play a protective role in the early stage of acute cold stress.
