Abstract
Objective: To explore the value of choledochofiberscope combined with holmium YAG laser in minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Methods: Thirty cases with upper ureteral calculi treated by holmium laser percutaneous nephrolithotomy were analyzed retrospectively.Thirteen cases had stag horn renal calculi and 17 cases multiple kidney stones. Results: Holmium laser percutaneous nephrolithotomy was completed at one stage in 21 cases and at second stage in 9 cases, including 26 cases of single-tract calculi and 4 cases of double-tract calculi.Five cases received ESWL.The rate of clearance was 83.33%(25/30)and the overall discharge rate was 93.33%(28/30).Conclusions: Choledochofiberscope combined with holmium YAG laser is effective for treatment of upper ureteral calcui. The clearance rate and discharge rate of the kidney stones are improved. It provides a new therapy for complicated staghorn renal calculi.
