    Revision of failed hip arthroplasty

    • Objective: To analyze the reasons for total hip arthroplasties revision,and to evaluate the results.Methods: Eighteen cases(18 hips) with loosened hip prosthesis were revised.The primary hip arthroplasty included femoral head replacement(3 cases) and total hip replacement(15 cases).The reasons for revision were aseptic loosening(14 cases),acetabular erosion(2 cases),infection(1 case) and femur prosthesis failure(1 case).Results: The follow-up lasted from 6 months to 4 years.The successful rate of revision was 84%.Conclusions: The most common reason for revision is aseptic loosening,and the results of revision of total hip arthroplasty are satisfactory.
