    Refractory heart failure in children: A report 68 cases

    • Objective: To investigate the effect of Refractory heart failure in children.Methods: Sixty-eight cases of refractory heart failure in children were randomly divided into two groups.The cure group were given nitroglycerin and the control group were given phentolamine,in addition to the usual administration and the progress of the disease was observed.Results: The effective rate was (92.5)% and 71.4% in the cure group and the control group,respectively.The difference between the two groups was remarkable(P<0.05).Mitigate duration of dyspnea was (4.52±1.23)days and (6.18±1.36)days in the cure group and the control group,respectively(P<0.01).Disappear duration of rales was (5.24±1.18)days and (6.67±1.34)days in the cure group and the control group,respectively(P<0.01).Conclusions: Nitroglycerin is an effective drug for treatment of refractory heart failure.
