Abstract
Objective: To observe the left ventricular diastolic function in elderly patients with hypertension and to evaluate the mitral valve homodynamic changes in the pulmonary vein by echocardiogram. Methods: Forty-six patients with hypertension were divided into grade Ⅰ,Ⅱand Ⅲ according to the WHO/ISH standard established in 1999.Color Doppler Ultrasound was used to observe the left ventricular diastolic function and dynamic parameters of blood flow of the patients. Results: The indexes of the left ventricular diastolic function in the elderly with hypertension were as follows:the mitral E peak was lower than A peak in patients with hypertension grade Ⅰ.The PVEA rate was higher than normal in patients with hypertension grade Ⅱ and grade Ⅲ(P<0.01).Conclusions: There exists significant abnormal homodynamics. The left ventricular diastolic function decreases and the left atrical pressure increases. The diastolic function of the elderly patients with hypertension grade Ⅰ is well correlated with the mitral blood flow parameters, which may fully evaluate the left ventricular diastolic function of patients with hypertension.
