Effect of Jiangzhuoquyu decotion on the hemorheology and sICAM-1, sVCAM-1 and hs-CRP levels in patients with carotid artery atherosclerosis

Objective:To investigate the effect of Jiangzhuoquyu decotion on the hemorheology and cell adhesion molecules levels in patients with carotid artery atherosclerosis.Methods:Sixty patients with carotid artery atherosclerosis were randomly divided into control group and therapy group.Patients in the control group were administered with simvastatin only,while patients in the therapy group were administered with Jiangzhuoquyu decotion and simvastatin,the total course of the treatment was 8 weeks.The hemorheology and plasma levels of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1),soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(sVCAM-1) and hypersensitive C reactive protein(hs-CRP) in two groups were measured.Results:Compared with the control group and before treatment in the therapy group,the hemorheology indexes and plasma levels of sICAM-1,sVCAM-1 and hs-CRP in therapy group were decreased significantly after treatment(PConclusions:Jiangzhuoquyu decotion can improve the hemorheology,and decrease the levels of sICAM-1,sVCAM-1 and hs-CRP in patients with carotid artery atherosclerosis.
