    Survey of drinking water status in primary and middle schools in Bozhou city

    • Objective:To investigate the current status and management of drinking water among the primary and middle schools in Bozhou city,and to provide scientific basis for the guidance.Methods:Stratified sampling was conducted in 150 primary and middle schools,and 150 samples of drinking water were detected.Results:The overall qualified rate of the drinking water was 64.00%.Ninety-one schools provided central water supply,14 schools had secondary water supply and 45 schools had no drinking water supply.The drinking water quality was evaluated as good in 34 schools,fair in 78 schools and poor in 38.The main unqualified tested items focused on ammonia nitrogen,fluoride,total bacterial count and total coliform group.The water quality in schools with high management level was superior to that of schools with ordinary or poor management levels(PPConclusions:There exists security danger in drinking water among the primary and middle schools in Bozhou city.It is suggested that drinking water security system should be established,health education strengthened and health supervision and guidance enforced.
