Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression of alpha-methylacyl-CoA-racemase(AMACR) in breast cancer and its clinico-pathological significance. Methods: AMACR and ER,PR,C-erbB-2 were detected in 73 cases of breast cancer and 36 cases of benign mammary lesions using immunohistochemical technique(S-P method),and the results were studied microscopically and statistically. Results: The positive rates of AMACR were 86.3% in breast cancer and 55.6% in benign mammary lesions, which had statistical significance(P<0.01).The expression of AMACR in breast cancer showed no difference among the typing, grading, and ER,PR,C-erbB-2 immunoplenotypes(P>0.05).Conclusions: AMACR is not only the biomarker of prostate cancer but can also be used in the pathological diagnosis of breast cancer.
