    Treatment of Alcoholic Liver Disease with Tiopronin

    • Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of Tiopronin on alcoholic liver diseases. Methods:Sixty-one cases with alcoholic liver diseases were divided into two groups. The control group received Potassium Magnesium Aspartate and Fu Fang Dan Shen, while the treatment group were administered Tiopronin in addition to the therapy the control group received. The treatment lasted for one month. The serum AST,ALT,TBIL and -GT of the two groups were detected before and after the therapy and the side effects were observed. Results:After therapy, the levels of AST,ALT,TBIL and -GT in both groups were decreased(P0. 01),and the levels of AST and ALT in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P0. 01). The normalization rates of AST and ALT in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group(P0. 05). The severe steatosis and evident inflammation of one case in the treatment group improved significantly, and the pseadolobuli in the hepatic tissue disappeared after the therapy. Conclusions: Tiopronin is an effective drug for the treatment of patients with alcoholic liver diseases.
