A study on the relation of self-esteem,social support and attribution to the subjective well-being of new-age peasant workers

    • Objective:To explore the correlation of the self-esteem, social support and attribution with the subjective well-being of new-age peasant workers. Methods:A total of 397 new-age peasant workers were investigated by questionnaires including index of well-being, the feelings of inadequacy scale, social support rating scale and internality, powerful others and chance scale by using stratified cluster sampling. Results:The index of well-being of the new-age peasants was 10. 51 1. 81,which presents significant age differences (P0.01),while the sex difference was not significant(P0.05). The scores of the subjective well-being were positively correlated to the self-esteem(P0.01) and social support(P0.01). The scores of the subjective well-being in the internality and powerful others groups were higher than that in the chance scale group, but there was no statistical difference between the internality group and the powerful others group(P0.05). Conclusions:The index of the well-being of the new-age peasants is positively correlated to the scores of self-esteem, social support factors and the total score; the tendencies of different attribution affect their subjective well-being.
