Abstract
Objective:To investigate if ephedrine could significantly improve intubating conditions following priming with vecuronium. Methods:Sixty patients were randomly divided into control group and ephedrine group,30 patients in each group.Control group was defined by normal saline following priming with vecuronium and ephedrine group was defined by ephedrine following priming with vecuronium.Intubating condition score was done according to Coopers criteria after anesthesia induction, and mean arterial pressure and heart rate before and after 5 minutes after intubation were recorded. Results:Jaw relaxation score and diaphragmatic response score in ephedrine group were markedly better than control group(P〈0.05 and P〈0.01),but no significant differences of vocal cord position score was found between these two groups(P〉0.05).Intubating conditions were clinically acceptable in all patient in ephedrine group and 23 patients in control group after induction(P〈0.05).Compared with control group, elevated mean arterial pressure and increased heart rate emerged after intubation in ephedrine group(P〈0.05-P〈0.01).Conclusions:Ephedrine can significantly improved intubating conditions following priming with vecuronium.
