Preliminary evaluation of 64-slice spiral CT coronary angiograpy in patients with coronary artery disease

    • Objective:To investigate the image quality and diagnostic accuracy of sixty four-slice spiral computed tomography angiography(CTA) in patients with suspected coronary artery disease. Methods:Fifty patients with suspected coronary artery disease underwent CTA and selected coronary angiography(SCA).The SCA results were served as "gold standard" to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of CTA.The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value(PPV) and negative predictive value(NPV) of CTA were calculated. Results:The sensitivity, specificity,PPV and NPV of coronary artery disease evaluated by CTA were 80.35%,96.53%,90.00% and 92.67%,respectively.There was a positive correlation in coronary stenosis of results between CTA and SCA(r=0.80,P〈0.01).CTA examination revealed 180 calcifications, while SCA only 80.Conclusions:CTA is a safe, simple and reliable noninvasive method for screening coronary artery disease, especially for revealing calcification.
