Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the feasibility of the application liposuction on the axillary lymph node excision for breast cancer. Methods:Thirty eight patients with a preoperative palpable breast cancer and axillary lymph nodes were treated as observed group and underwent modified radical mastectomy.Axillary injection of fat dissolving solution and suction fat after dissection.Intercostal nerve, long thoracic nerve and thoracodorsal nerve were retained during operation 20 patients were treated as control group which received traditional axillary lymph node dissection. Results:Less blood loss with an average of 15 lymph nodes removed in observed group. There was no significant postoperative complications in all patients.Mean follow-up time was 6 months.Patients had no axillary recurrence, impairment of shoulder mobility, upper extremity edema and paralysis, etc. Conclusions:Liposuction fat dissolving solution followed by axillary lymph node excision,is a simple, saving time, more thorough lymph node dissection and less neurovascular injury.
