Aspirin combined with prednisone for treatment of recurrent spontaneous abortion

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of low dose of prednisone combined with aspirin on recurrent spontaneous abortion(RSA).Methods:Fifty-three cases of RSA were randomly divided into treatment group(33 cases) and control group(20 cases).The cases in the treatment group were administered low dose of prednisone 100 mg once each day and aspirin 5 mg once every night for 3 months;3 months later,the dosage of aspirin was decreased to 25 mg and prednisone to 2.5 mg once every night.The therapy was carried out until 3 months after pregnancy;the controls were given the routine therapy of progesterone only.The therapy was regarded as effective when the fetal in utero was alive or presenting no fetal disorder at 28 weeks of gestation.The treatment efficacy,the live birth rate and the incidence of pregnancy-coexisted diseases were compared between the two groups.Results:The efficacy rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control(P0.01)and low dose of aspirin and prednisone would not increase the incidence of pregnancy-coexisted diseases.Conclusions:The therapy of low dose of prednisone combined with aspirin can effectively prevent the incidence of RSA and is highly feasible in clinical application.
