    Treatment based on categorical identification of the traditional Chinese medicine for facial paralysis efficacy with acupuncture treatment

    • Objective: To study the significance of treatment based on categorical identification of the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) for facial paralysis efficacy with acupuncture treatment.Methods: Sixty-eight patients were divided into two groups through single-blind method randomly:the observation group(differentiation in the treatment,36 cases),and the control group(non-differentiation in the treatment,32 cases).The observation group were divided into three types according to syndrome symptoms:Feng Xie into the Internal Organs;the Internal Organs silted by phlegm and dampness;Qi and blood deficiency.According to the treatment based on categorical identification of the traditional Chinese medicine,the acupuncture points were given in different selections;the same acupuncture points were selected in the control group.Then the efficacy was assessed after the period of treatment.Results: Differentiation in the observation group,the period of treatment and effects were improved than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions: Treatment of facial paralysis with acupuncture therapy is of great significance,it can improve the effect and shorten the period of treatment.Categorical identification of the TCM has a significant clinical directive function.
