Surgical treatment of thoraclumbar fractures with short-segment pedicle intrumentation system

    • Objective: To sum up the clinical experience in treatment of thoracolumbar spinal fractures with short-segment pedicle intrumentation system. Methods: Thirty-five cases of thoraclumbar fracture were treated with short-segment pedicle intrumentation system(or plus bone grafting). Results: All the cases were followed up for 10 to 24 months. The natural curvature of the spine and the anterior height of the vertebral bodies were recovered. No spinal destabilization was noted. Conclusions: Short-segment pedicle intrumentation system is easy to operate. The fixation is rigid, and the height of the vertebral bodies is well reconstructed.Selective bone grafting can keep the posterior column stable, supporting the recovery of the function of the spinal cord.
