Comparison of efficacy prednisone combined with oral methiamazole with simple oral methiamazole of treating Graves' disease

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of prednisone combined with oral anti-thyroid drugs and simple oral anti-thyroid drugs for treating Graves' disease.Methods:Seventy-four cases with Graves' disease were randomly divided into observation group,which were treated with prednisone and methimazole of oral anti-thyroid and control group,which were treated with methimazole(37 cases in each group).All cases were followed up for 1 year,and the clinical efficacy,thyroid hormone levels,related immune indicators,toxicity and complications of two groups were analysed.Results:The 91.89% of clinical efficacy of the observation group was significantly higher than 70.27% of the control group(P0.05).Compared with the pre-treatment,the decreasing FT3,FT4,IgG and IgM levels and the increasing thyroid stimulating hormone levels were observed after treatment,and there were significant differences between the two groups(P0.01).There were 13.51% of side effects and 10.81% of complications of the observation group were significantly lower than 37.84% and 32.43% of the control group respectively(P0.05).Conclusions:The efficacy of prednisone combined with oral anti-thyroid drugs for treating Graves' disease is better than that of oral anti-thyroid drugs only,which can significantly improve the clinical efficacy,thyroid hormone levels,immune parameters and reduce toxicity,so as to be worth spreading.
