The MRI value in diagnosing spinal cord multiple sclerosis

    • Objective:To explore magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) appearance of spinal cord multiple sclerosis and its diagnostic value. Methods:The location, extent, morphology,MRI signal and enhancement degree of spinal cord multiple sclerosis were analyzed in 9 cases. Results:Cervical, cervical and thoracic, and thoracic spinal cord were involved in 4,3 and 2 cases, respectively. The lesions were patches and long ribbon in shape.Low or iso-signal intensity on T1WI and high-signal intensity on T1WI were found.Point flake high lesions signal on T2WI were observed,The lesion was enhancement or no enhancement by enhanced MRI scan. Conclusions:MRI can help the differential diagnosis with other intraspinal diseases.
