    Relation of coping style to the personality and social support in medical college students

    • Objective:To explore the association of the coping style with the personality and social support in medical college students.Methods:The 472 medical college students were surveyed by EPQ-RSC,social support scale and questionnaires about their coping style.The influence of personality and social support on the students' coping style was analyzed.Results:The male students got a higher score in rationalization than the female student(P0.01),while the female students got a higher self-accusation and illusion than the male student(P0.01 and P0.05);the rationalization and illusion scores were higher in students from the rural areas than those from the urban areas P0.01);personality and social support were closely related with the coping style of the students.The structural equation modeling fitted the data very well(2/df=4.16,P0.01,GFI=0.967,AGFI=0.935,NFI=0.949,CFI=0.930,RMSEA=0.069).Conclusions:Social supports and personality have direct influence on the coping style of medical college students,and the theoretical model supposes are strongly supported by the structural equation modeling.
