Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics and incidence rate of postoperative complication of elderly patients with gastric carcinoma, and improve their perioperative management. Methods: The clinical data of 45 patients older than 70 years old(elderly group) and 60 patients less than 70 years old(control group) with gastric carcinoma were retrospectively analyzed. The incidence rates of perioperative and postoperative complications and treatment of two groups were investigated. Results: There were more clinical characteristics of other system diseases, but no specificly clinical manifestations in elderly group before operation. The incidence rate of other system disease in elderly group was higher than that in control group before operation(P 0.05 to P 0.01).The incidence rates of postoperative complications in elderly group and control group were 22.2% and 11.7%,respectively,the difference had no statistic significance(P 0.05).Conclusions: The elderly patients with gastric carcinoma have more other system diseases before operation and higher incidence rate of postoperative complications.Strenghening the perioperative management of elderly patients with gastric carcinoma can reduce the postoperative complications and improve their survival rate and living quality.
