Clinical study of treatment of advanced gastric cancer with paclitaxel combined with leucovorin and 5-fluorouracil

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and side effects of paclitaxel combined with leucovorin and 5-fluorouracil(5 Fu) treating advanced gastric cancer.Methods:Fifty-five patients with advanced gastric cancer were treated with 135 mg/m2 of paclitaxel by intravenous drip on the first day,and 200 mg/m2 of leucovorin for 2 hours by intravenous drip and 600 mg/m2of 5-Fu were given by intravenous drip for 22 hours after 400 mg/m2 of 5-Fu by intravenous injection from 1 st to 3 rd.The treatment was repeated after 3 weeks.The effects were evaluated at least two cycles therapy.Results:Among 55 cases of advanced gastric cancer,there were complete response in 3 cases,partial response in 27 cases,no change in 15 cases and progression in 10 cases.The total effective rates was 54.5%,and the main toxicity was myelosuppression.Conclusions:Treatment of advanced gastric cancer with paclitaxel combined with leucovorin and 5-Fu effective andlight side effects,and patients can tolerate.
