The effect of Toric intraocular lens implantation

    • Objective:To observe the the effect of Toric intraocular lens implantation on treating aged-cataract.Methods:The monocular cataract of 64 senile patients with astigmatism between 0.75 and 2.5 diopter were extracted. The observation group(34 cases)and control group(30 cases)were implanted with Toric and common IOL respectively. The eyesight at 1 day before and after operation and 3 months after operation the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and postoperative residual refractive error of all patients were recorded. Results:The eyesight differences of two group at 1 day before and after operation were not statistically significant(P0.05).At 3 months after operation the eyesight differences of two group were statistically significant(P0.01)and their BCVA were not statistically significant(P0.05).The postoperative astigmatism of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P0.01).The 90% rotation angle of the observation group was less than 5 degree. Conclusions:The effect of Toric intraocular lens implantation on treating aged-cataract is better than traditional IOL,which is more suitable for cataract patients with moderate astigmatism.
