    Effect of herb plus adoptive immunotherapy with cytokine induced killer cells on cellular immunaity of patients with advanced esophageal carcinoma

    • Objective: To observe the efficacy and cellular immune function of autologous cytokine induced killer (CIK) cells treatment plus Huisheng oral liquid in patients with advanced esophageal carcinoma.Methods: A total of 62 patients with advanced esophageal carcinoma were randomly assigned to two groups.All patients in both groups were received chemotherapy with 5-Fu plus DDP firstly.The patients in control group(25) were given Huisheng oral liquid 10 ml /three times per day,while others in observation group(37) were received Huisheng oral liquid, and autologous CIK cells treatment.The curative effect and changes of T-cell subgroup percentage were evaluated.Results: The mean percentages of CD8 + T-cell in observation group were lower than in control group; while CD3 + ,CD4 + T-cell and the ratio of CD4 + /CD8 + were increased compared with control.No significant difference of total therapeutic effect, life quality score and weight was observed the two groups (P0.05 ) .Conclusions: Autologous CIK cells treatment plus Huisheng oral liquid in patients with advanced esophageal carcinoma could promote cellular immunity function,increase total therapeutic effect and life quality with no extra adverse reaction.It is a safe and effective assistance therapeutic tool.
