Magnetic resonance imaging features of intracranial hemangioblastomas

Objective: To investigate the magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) features of hemangioblastoma in different encephalic parts.Methods:The data of 16 cases with hemangioblastoma confirmed by surgery and pathology in different encephalic parts were retrospectively analyzed.Results:Four cases in frontal lobe,1 case in left cerebellopontine angle area,2 cases in medulla oblongata and 9 cases in cerebellar hemisphere were found.Twelve cases were large cyst and small nodular type,4 cases were substance type.Frontal lobe lesions were large cyst and small nodular type,many signal voids of vessel in tumor were observed,the enahnced T1 and T2 signals were showed in tumor substance.The cerebellopontine angle lesions were irregular cysts,distorted vascular shadow and irregular substance in tumor were found.Medullary lesions were oval large cyst and small nodular,separations in inside and obvious strengthening were found.Cerebellar hemisphere lesions were large cyst and small nodular or substance type,the enahnced T1 and T2 signals and signal voids of vessel were showed in substance of tumor and solid part was obviously strengthened.Conclusions:The MRI feactures of hemangioblastoma in different encephalic parts have certain characteristics,the signal voids of vessel in tumor lesion is the characterictic feature.
